Reduction in Council Tax Rates

We the undersigned petition the council to Reduce Council Tax by 40%, to all Epsom and Ewell residents for 6 months from the 1st of April

Having lived in Epsom for numerous years, the council tax has increased annually by an average of 3-4%. For 2020 a 3.8% increase has been effected.

As COVID 19 sweeps through our country, there is a reduction in services being offered, not only by the Epsom and Ewell Council but also the Surrey Council and in general most stores, churches etc are closed. The Surrey Council consumes over 60% of the total council tax being paid from our payment, therefore not benefiting those most vulnerable or in need within our own council. An adjustment needs to be made on the collection of council taxes. More so because numerous people within the borough are receiving, little or no income or will have to apply for Universal Credit.

Am asking all residents in Surrey to sign up to this petition and request a reduction in Council Tax and or channelling of the funds to more local community (Epsom and Ewell) charities, families and people in need.
