Following consideration, it was resolved:

(1)      To agree that the scheme set out in Annex 1 to the report be adopted as the method of awarding the Expanded Retail and Nursery Discount to Business Rates payers in Epsom & Ewell, with effect from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Minutes:

The Committee received a report seeking adoption of a local scheme for the administration of the Expanded Retail Discount and Nursey Discount to Business Rates payers.

The following matters were raised by the Committee:

a)            Interest on Government funding: Following a question from a Member, the Officer confirmed that of the discounts made by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council would be claimed back from the Government at the end of the year, the Council is unable to claim interest due to the way in which the Government’s NNDR funding works.

b)           Properties from last Government scheme: Following a question from a Member, the Officer confirmed that there were no changes from the properties the Council had in the previous Government scheme.

c)            Thanks to Revenues and Benefits Team: The Committee wished to place on record its thanks to all members of the Revenues and Benefits Team in their on-going work for local businesses and the Council, with a request that this be Minuted.

Following consideration, it was resolved unanimously that the Committee:

(1)      Agreed that the scheme set out in Annex 1 to the report be adopted as the method of awarding the Expanded Retail and Nursery Discount to Business Rates payers in Epsom & Ewell, with effect from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.
