Current ePetitions

An e-Petition is a petition which collects signatures online. This allows petitions and supporting information to be made available to a potentially much wider audience than a traditional paper based petition.

Anyone who lives, works or studies in the area can submit or sign an e-Petition.

E-Petitions are part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to listening to and acting on the views of the public.

Supporting an e-Petition

To support an existing e-Petition choose an e-Petition and add your name, address and email address.

To find out more about the issue, see the supporting information, provided by the lead petitioner, attached to the e-Petition.

Submitting an e-Petition

An e-Petition can relate to any issue for which the Council is responsible or for which it has shared responsibility.

Are there any rules about submitting petitions?

The Council has a Petition Scheme. The Scheme contains more detail about how the Council will deal with a petition and what to do if you are not satisfied with the way your petition has been dealt with. There are certain general criteria which apply to both electronic and paper petitions. We have called these our Terms and Conditions. In the period immediately before an election or referendum we may need to deal with your petition differently. If this is the case, we will explain the reasons and discuss the revised timescale which will apply.
