The Minutes of the Meeting of the Council held on 14 February 2023 and Extraordinary meeting held on 22 March 2023 were agreed as a true record and the Mayor was authorised to sign them.

Mayoral Communications/Business

To receive such communications or deal with such business as the Mayor may decide to lay before the Council.

Minutes:

The Mayor noted that this was the last meeting of the Council in it’s 4 year term, reflecting upon the work undertaken and challenges faced over that period. The Mayor expressed his thanks and gratitude to all councillors and staff, both past and present, for their work over the past 4 years and in particular for addressing the challenges created by Covid-19.

The Mayor also expressed his thanks to councillors who were not standing in the upcoming elections for all their work on behalf of the council during their term of office.

A supplementary question was asked by Councillor David Gulland and a response was given by the Chair of the Environment and Safe Communities Committee, Councillor John Beckett.

To receive statements from the Chairs of the Council’s Policy Committees, briefing Members on current events and issues relating to the relevant Committee’s area of work.

Council received written statements from the Chair of the Licensing and Planning Policy Committee and Chair of the Strategy and Resources Committee.

5 questions were asked relating to the statements and responded to by the relevant Committee Chair.

The Mayor provided the opportunity for any councillors who wished to make a brief statement to the Council to do so, as this was the last meeting of the 4 year term.
