Surrey Youth Games 2021 pdf icon PDF 89 KB

This report sets out three options concerning the future of the Surrey Youth Games in 2021.

Decision:

Following consideration, it was resolved that the Committee:

(1)      Agreed one of the three options, set out in Section 3 of this report, for the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games currently scheduled in 2021.

 

Minutes:

The Committee received a report setting out options concerning the future of the Surrey Youth Games in 2021.

The following matters were considered:

a)            Options available for Surrey Youth Games in 2021. The Committee noted the three options detailed in the report. The Chairman informed that Committee that Option 1 (to hold a reduced Covid safe Games in its current format) was unlikely to be viable due to the current pandemic. Committee Members considered that Option 2 was also unlikely to be viable. Members expressed that regrettably, Option 3 was the most viable option available with regard to the Surrey Youth Games in 2021.

 

Following consideration, the Committee unanimously resolved that:

(1)      To support Option 3 of the report, namely to defer the Surrey Youth Games in 2021 to 2022.

This report updates Committee on the challenges facing the Council’s Venues operating in a Covid-19 socially distanced environment.

Decision:

Following consideration, it was resolved that the Committee:

(1)      Agreed the Playhouse remains closed for the remainder of the financial year(31 March 2021);

(2)      Agreed to Ewell Court House remaining closed until further notice;

(3)      Agreed to Bourne Hall Café remaining closed until further notice.

Minutes:

The Committee received a report updating it upon on the challenges facing the Council’s Venues operating in a Covid-19 socially distanced environment.

The following matters were considered:

a)            Use of Playhouse for private hire functions. Following a question from a Member, the Committee was informed that private hire of Playhouse facilities for business functions (for example: socially distanced meetings) was possible, but that hirers must be able to operate in a Covid-secure manner and be legally able to operate in the current Covid-19 restrictions.

b)            Use of Council Venues in support of the NHS. The Head of Property and Regeneration informed the Committee that the Council was in continuous communication with the NHS with regard to the use of its venues in support of the pandemic response.

Following consideration, it was resolved unanimously that the Committee:

(1)      Agreed the Playhouse remaining closed for the remainder of the financial year(31 March 2021);

(2)      Agreed to Ewell Court House remaining closed until further notice;

(3)      Agreed to Bourne Hall Café remaining closed until further notice.
